Successful Contemplative Living Retreat!!

Ten beautiful women attended the Contemplative Living Retreat led by Lindy Cutshall. They escaped the chaos of their routine and took time to reflect, pray, practice solitude and spend time with God’s beauty in nature. They shared their experiences in lively discussions, laughter, tears and worship and left the mountain with a renewed spirit. We hope to offer this retreat again in the fall and would love for you to join us. A special thanks goes to Lindy who did an awesome job of facilitating this experience.

Winter Sunrises at Thistledown

The skies at Thistledown change with the seasons. As the trees lose their leaves, the view of the sunrise becomes more open. The skies are ever changing but always beautiful! Sitting by the fire or on the deck, watching the sunrise reminds us of the beauty of this world and the peace of the season abounds!

Early October Snow makes for a Wonderful Retreat!!

Hurricane Sandy brought with it high winds and 17 inches of snow to Thistledown. The leaves had not all fallen to the ground and those on the ground had not yet turned brown. It was a beautiful scene that encouraged us to slow down and take in the beauty.

Women’s Group comes to Thistledown for Fall Getaway

It is always fun to have former students bring friends to Thistledown. Laura had stayed at Thistledown by herself for a quiet retreat earlier in the summer and then brought her friends back with her for a more lively time. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend with the sun shining brightly, blue skies above and the leaves dancing merrily in their full color!

We delighted in the laughter and joy which rang throughout the mountain as these women enjoyed hiking, eating, playing games, visiting pottery shows and just being together. Several of them enjoyed an hour long session of Healing Touch and all were able to return to their homes with their souls and spirits renewed. We loved having this beautiful group of women with us and can’t wait to have them back at Thistledown!

Apple Butter Festival 2012

What a wonderful time we had making apple butter this year. Family and friends rallied to get the apples ready and we ended up with so many apples that we were able to make two runs of butter. Stan and Travis Daniels did an amazing job of overseeing the butter while many folks offered their services in tasting to be sure it was “just right”. Hot biscuits smothered with apple butter melted in our mouths as we eagerly awaited the final product. The music provided a joyful atmosphere and was supported by a Chili lunch that everyone enjoyed. It was a perfectly beautiful fall day with the warm sun shining, a slight breeze blowing and a hint of the leaves beginning to put on their fall colors. We look forward to doing it again next year and hope you can come join us!

In Thistledown, Sara and Tom Masters have created an oasis for the spirit – not only because it resides in a beautiful setting, but because of the generous hearts of its owners. Warm hospitality, the richness of nature, the opportunity to experience something new…my spirit came away refreshed and thankful!
